OneSky: Unmanned Traffic Management
Overview & Challenge
OneSky’s unmanned traffic management system supports user supplied flight plans, airspace analytics, advanced terrain considerations, regulations compliance, and similar variables. Users can create either point-based or more complex path-based flight plans, that they can then monitor the operations of in real-time. Notifications and warnings provide an enhanced situational awareness during flights, letting users know of any proximity or safety issues as soon as they arise. Users can also customize their flight environments with their own data layers, mapping elements, and visualization options.

Competitive Analysis
It was essential that the app both met current expectations of UTM apps on the market and also distinguished itself from the competitors. Main competitors include AirMap and KittyHawk. A key differentiator is the fact that OneSky has very advanced analytical services in comparison to these other options.
User Flow Diagram
One of the main user flows that had to be designed was flight creation. All flights that are not deemed as “just for fun” needed to be submitted to and approved by the FAA. All of the other necessary app functions in the user flow diagram was included and vetted it with the stakeholder.
Design Iterations & Final Design
Many sketches of the various workflows and panels were iterated on until a design was agreed upon by all involved parties. Afterwards the sketches were fit into our established “Enterprise Platform” styles along with redlined specifications for developers to use.
This was created while working at Analytical Graphics Inc. (now AGI, An Ansys Company).
