Timeline Analysis

Overview & Challenge

The goal of this project was to develop an expandable timeline component within our Enterprise Platform software. Product teams build on top of the Enterprise Platform. This expandable timeline component was designed for a Team’s’ decision support tool, which was based around mission planning.

At a minimum, the timeline needed to incorporate the following requirements:

• Basic timeline that could expand into an advanced timeline
• Basic timeline controls (forward playback, reverse playback, pause, zoom, playback speed, etc.)
• “Gantt chart” like segments to displays durations of timeline objects
• Points to indicate events
• Ability to support nested timeline objects
• Adjustable viewport in basic timeline that represents bounding area for expanded view
